You know through now that Apple is pushing for as many high-profile games as it could get for its upcoming Arcade service, however how far is it willing to head? Quite a long way, reputedly. Financial Times sources claim Apple is spending "hundreds of tens of millions" of greenbacks, "in all likelihood" over $500 million in general, to relaxed video games for the subscription offering. It's reportedly spending "several" million dollars according to game, and is offering perks if builders provide transient exclusives that hold titles off Android or even console subscriptions just like the Xbox Game Pass.

Apple has declined to remark.

If correct, it is a large dedication -- more or less 1/2 the $1 billion set aside for the initial Apple TV+ show roster. That type of spending isn't always outlandish given the company's targets, though. A subscription game carrier won't fly if it does not have marquee games to deliver you in. Arcade especially is a bid to revive interest in paid video games at some stage in the free-to-play generation, and could assist Apple strengthen its ancient advantage over Android in cell gaming (where large games are either iOS-specific or iOS-first). What Apple spends now would possibly pay dividends if it results in more cellular gamers and sport studios flocking to iOS.
