Spotify is testing a reduced subscription for two in the hopes of curbing password sharing. Premium Duo offers you and someone you live with individual Premium money owed for €12.49 ($14) in step with month. There's particular perks which includes a Duo Mix playlist made up of tracks you both like, the ability to share your entire library of saved music, and a Duo Hub where you can manage accounts and settings. For now, the test is limited to Colombia, Chile, Denmark, Ireland and Poland, with no word on more markets.Spotify says the subscription is available to new and existing users -- and you keep all your saved Premium music and playlists when you switch.

Premium Duo is basically cheaper than buying two separate Premium accounts for €9.99 ($9.99 within the US) each in step with month or a family plan for five bills for €14.99 consistent with month. The large caveat, however, is you need to be living with a person to get right of entry to it. That makes it best for flatmates and couples, though college students have to stay with the pupil plan, which is still the cheapest at $4.99 (and is derived bundled with Hulu and Showtime inside the US).

"The pilot for Premium Duo is part of Spotify's commitment to continuously explore new ways to improve the Premium experience.," aSpotify spokesperson said in a statement. "We routinely run a number of pilots and programs to improve our user experience, which can pave the path for broader changes to our product or just give us important learnings."

Of path, you can already group up with others on collaborative playlists on desktop or cell. And, in case you have a tendency to disregard Spotify's algorithmic pointers, then you may possibly shun the Duo Mix, too -- even though it adds a human detail (your buddy's faves!) to the discovery procedure. But the real draw here is the price and the potential to preserve two separate bills with some convergence, in case you need it. Best of all, you no longer need to jump thru the hoops that include password sharing, chiefly having to go offline (and stick to yourSpotify downloads) when someone else comes on.
